Direct Exit (2/5f) was a hotpot here but couldn't find a way past Kronos from before the last flight.

The German import proved too strong as he made an impressive debut on Irish soil.

In front early he was headed for a while by the free-running Thiazi but led again at halfway.

He had his rivals stretched after the second last and galloped on strongly. Trainer Mervyn Torrens sees his future over fences and said that he has to have soft ground.

Direct Exit travelled well into contention before the turn for home but couldn't pick up when asked for an effort before the last.

Garamor Boy had shown a bit more on his last start at the course and stepped up again, running a nice race in fourth.

Oliver Brady's charge tracked the leaders throughout before moving into third after the second last. He couldn't match the front two and weakened after the last, losing third to Ragtime Lucy.

The mare had chased the leaders but looked well held in fourth after two out, keeping on at the one pace to go third again on the run-in.

Global Position made some late headway without posing a threat. Galiana went out early to be mounted on the course. He was well-beaten when falling two out.

Jockey Bobby McNally reported that Sir Mozart did not jump well and was unable to act on the testing ground. He added that he should improve on better ground.
