The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. P.L. Malone, that M.P. O'Connor, nominated rider for Hide Your Heart, had presented himself at scales to weigh out at 3lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he was a student and was not riding out daily. He added that he had informed J.A. Stack yesterday that he would be overweight which was flagged by a declaration for the possibility of carrying 2lbs overweight. He said that he was unable to lose the required weight to ride within the nominated overweight. Evidence was also heard from Sean Hennessy, Authorised representative of J.A. Stack, trainer of Hide Your Heart. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the explanation offered did not constitute an exceptional circumstance in accordance with the provisions of Rule 198 (vii) and consequently did not allow the request for M.P. O'Connor to ride at 3lbs overweight. Having taken his good previous record into consideration, the Stewards fined M.P. O'Connor ?150. The Stewards allowed the request from Sean Hennessy to replace M.P. O'Connor with A. J. Slattery
G.P. Halpin, rider of Man Power trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount finished lame
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Man Power, trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame behind post race
P.A. Harnett, rider of Lavengro Lad trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that he was hit in the face when his mount threw back his head on leaving the starting stalls.
