The winner, Sir Plato (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run in a 0-75 handicap at Windsor on 12 April 2021, where the gelding finished seventh of thirteen, beaten by 12¾ lengths.
Rod Millman’s explanation that Sir Plato (IRE) had benefited from the drop in class to a 0-70 handicap on this occasion and had stripped fitter for its previous run, which was the gelding’s first since a 168-day break, was noted.
Following the race, the representative of Henry Candy reported that Woodcock (IRE), which started favourite and finished last of the seven runners, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Soft on this occasion, and would prefer a faster surface.
