An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong when the winner, KODIAC PEARL (IRE), ridden by Eoin Walsh, interfered with ALLIGATOR, placed third, ridden by David Probert, which interfered ODDS ON OLI, placed sixth, ridden by Russell Harris, and then NEW RICH, placed fourth, ridden by Georgia Dobie. Being 7Ib claiming apprentices, Harris and Dobie were offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined. The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved KODIAC PEARL (IRE)'s placing, as there was a head and half a length between the winner and the third at the line, Probert never had to stop riding, and KODIAC PEARL (IRE) appeared to be holding ALLIGATOR on the run to the line. Walsh was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction, taking ALLIGATOR off its intended line for several strides and causing it to make contact with and unbalance NEW RICH
A query was raised with Phil McEntee, the trainer of SWISS CROSS, into the circumstances surrounding the gelding being made a non-runner at Wolverhampton the previous day with the reason given as Travel a?? Second horsebox not safe to travel'. McEntee explained that there had been an issue with the closure mechanism on the top doors of the horsebox which meant it was not safe for SWISS CROSS and his other runner, MOTHER OF DRAGONS (IRE), to travel to Wolverhampton. He further added that on returning to his yard after Wolverhampton he had been able to temporarily fix the doors to ensure it was safe for the runners to travel in to Lingfield today. His comments were noted.
