Jack Jones was cautioned as Manton Road (GB) had arrived in the Parade Ring with a pair of blinkers attached to the declared eye shield, which were then removed and the eye shield was re-fitted to the gelding before going to the start.
Shortly after leaving the stalls Manton Road (GB), placed fourth, lugged quickly right-handed away from Calibos (GB), unplaced, which slightly impeded Arizona Beauty (IRE), unplaced, and hampered D Day Harley R (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved nor had it improved the placing of Manton Road (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final ½ furlong involving Empowered Queen (FR), placed fourth, ridden by Nicola Currie and Manton Road (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Luke Morris which was beaten by a short-head margin.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Empowered Queen (FR)’s placing as that filly had shifted right- handed initially moving Manton Road (GB) off its intended line, before ultimately bumping that runner causing Manton Road (GB) to become unbalanced and revised the placings as follows: First – Telepathic (IRE): Second – Khutulun (GB): Third - Thiscouldbefun (IRE): Fourth - Manton Road (GB): and Fifth - Empowered Queen (FR).
Currie was cautioned for careless riding as she had edged her mount right- handed without being fully clear of MANTON QUEEN, thereby causing interference to that filly.
Following the race, Ryan Sexton reported that Calibos (GB), unplaced, hung left-handed; and Luke Morris reported that Manton Road (GB), placed fourth, hung left-handed under pressure.
