The Stewards requested a report from Anthony McCann, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Togoville, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Anthony McCann reported that his charge was a renowned course specialist but his return to form was helped tonight by the surface riding slow which kept Togoville in the race. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report
The Stewards enquired into an incident before the marker poles involving Geological, ridden by S. Foley, placed fifth and Togoville, ridden by A.J. Slattery, placed first, where it appeared that Geological moved in before the marker poles and Togoville checked when his ground was taken. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned
Conor O'Dwyer accompanied A.J. Slattery at this enquiry. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that S. Foley was in breach of Rule 211 by failing to keep a straight course until the marker poles were reached. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned S. Foley
The Stewards interviewed B.M. Coen, rider of View The Bay, concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered evidence from the rider, the Stewards were of the opinion that B.M. Coen was in breach of Rule 211 by failing to keep a straight course to the marker poles. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended B.M. Coen for 1 raceday. R.P. Cody accompanied B.M. Coen at this enquiry.
