An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Twin Star (IRE), placed third, ridden by Richard Kingscote, Mugatoo (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Jamie Spencer, Ship Of The Fen (GB), placed second, ridden by Jason Watson, Never Surrender (IRE), unplaced, ridden by John Egan, and Rydan (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Hollie Doyle, who all became detached from the winner, Paddys Motorbike (IRE), ridden by Liam Keniry down the back straight, before asking for their efforts approximately 3 ? furlong out.
The riders were interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The riders were of the opinion that as PADDY'S MOTORBIKE (IRE) had not run for 722 days, Keniry was going too quickly in the conditions and as a result anticipated that he would come back to them.
They further added that PADDY'S MOTORBIKE (IRE) was maintaining a strong gallop and all were of the opinion that they would have been off the bridle in order to maintain touch.
They continued that they had all asked their mounts for a finishing effort earlier than normal in order to try and close the gap, which in their opinion resulted in their mounts tiring and weakening sooner than otherwise would have been the case.
Their explanations were noted.
An enquiry was held to consider two incidents of interference.
The first incident occurred approaching 2 furlongs out when Mugatoo (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Jamie Spencer interfered with Rydan (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Hollie Doyle.
The interference was found to be accidental as Mugatoo (IRE) moved marginally right when Spencer was taking reasonable steps to prevent the inference from occurring.
The second incident occurred inside the final the 2 furlongs when Mugatoo (IRE) interfered with SHIP OF FEN, placed second, ridden by Jason Watson and Never Surrender (IRE), unplaced, ridden by John Egan.
Spencer was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction when insufficiently clear causing Watson to become short of room and to have to check and Egan to take a pre-cautionary check.
