FormscanBy Gary Carson - GALOPIN DES CHAMPS did get turned over in this last year but it's hard to oppose the dual Gold Cup winner. After a below par effort on his return this season, in the John Durkan, he has been imperious in the top staying chases, culminating in a dominating performance at Cheltenham last month. Obviously Fastorslow lowered his colours in this last year and also in the John Durkan. He was no match for a peak Galopin Des Champs in the Irish Gold Cup and didn't get a chance to test him at Cheltenham last time. Corach Rambler ran a cracker when third in the Gold Cup before a first fence exit at Aintree. He could be place material.

Quotes on Appreciate It (IRE)
it was the same as the last day and you'd love to get a lead on him as he's idle in front. I was trying to teach him today, and win, without doing something silly. He showed me the last day that he's there when I need him. It's grand to get him out again and you'd have to be happy with everything he's doing. Every day is experience for him. After Appreciate It (IRE) finished 1st at Naas on Sun, 8th Jan 2023 2m Novice Chase Soft

Quotes on Capodanno (FR)
I felt coming out of Cheltenham we didn't do the right thing. Having a chat with Mark today, he was thinking the same way as I was and he wanted to be positive and that suited me. We always thought that he stayed, it was just about the right way to ride him. Jessie's horse (Harrington, Lifetime Ambition) took us along and when he didn't jump the fence down the back great, our fella went past and winged it. Mark got a little breather after the fourth last and he was very happy with him. In the bigger races we hadn't been bold enough and today was the day just to be bold and see what happens. It worked out and hopefully we might have a Gold Cup horse on our hands. He gallops and jumps and usually the Gold Cup is on good ground, that'll do us. He does everything right but he looks to just gallop and jump and when you stop him doing that you're not making maximum use of him. After Capodanno (FR) finished 1st at Punchestown on Tue, 26th Apr 2022 3m Novice Chase Good to Yielding

Quotes on Conflated (IRE)
It was unfortunate that A Plus Tard couldn’t run. The race worked out well and Jack gave him a beautiful ride. Paul (Townend) steadied the pace down the pace and Jack let him stride on. He said the faster this horse goes the better he’ll be. I thought Jack was wonderful. He’s not an easy horse and he’s actually starting to settle now. He was very kinky and Jack said he wasn’t doing a stroke the whole way up the straight. He jumped perfect all the way. We don’t gallop him a whole lot and he just does his routine work each day. We left him very short in Down Royal and Jack was thrilled and said he’d come on an awful lot from it. I’d imagine he’ll come back here for the Irish Gold Cup but we’ll have to talk to Michael (O’Leary, owner) and Eddie and make a plan. It’s great for Michael and Anita as it’s their first time to come racing this season and they are big supporters of Cullentra. They have backed me from day one. There was a lot of talk last season about which race he would go for in Cheltenham but he’ll definitely be going for the Gold Cup this year. After Conflated (IRE) finished 1st at Leopardstown on Wed, 28th Dec 2022 3m Chase Soft

Quotes on Fastorslow (FR)
He’s enjoyed himself and jumped brilliant but just jumping that little bit left has probably cost him the race. We would have been delighted if he was in the first three. It was a tactical, steadily run race and he never gave him too much to do and it worked out well. He went the shortest way round and jumped really well. He was nearly travelling too well for the first mile of the race, he was in his hands a bit. He’s just a very good horse and there is a lot to look forward to with him. He needed to back up that Punchestown run (in April). People might have thought we were mad taking on very good horses in the spring and he’s done the same today. This is very sweet. I knew John (Durkan) very well and this is the 25th anniversary of this race. He’s a horse that takes his racing well so there is four and a half weeks until the Savills. The horse will tell us.After Fastorslow (FR) finished 1st at Punchestown on Sun, 26th Nov 2023 2m 3f Chase Soft

Quotes on Galopin Des Champs (FR)
I think he just put himself in the superstar category – to do what he did and the way he did it. The loose horse was there and Paul was just so positive on him. Hopefully we can come back next year to win a third one – he has the ability to do it and we just have to stay sound, I think. He’s doing everything right and is achieving more than I thought he could. It was great to win a Gold Cup last year and we were crossing our fingers this year that if we got him there safe and sound, he’d have every chance of winning and he’s just done that. But you can only dream about these kinds of things. After Galopin Des Champs (FR) finished 1st at Cheltenham on Fri, 15th Mar 2024 3m 2f Chase Heavy

He fiddled a few which was good when he got in a bit close, and the faster he was going the better he was jumping. He’ll come on plenty from that. Three miles is his trip and he’ll have to go into Graded races now. He might come back here for the (Dublin Racing) Festival. You only have to look at him and you can’t help loving him. Quotes on Hewick (IRE)
He is a great horse, is very easy to train and it is great for the team at home as he is our star. Our game has gone very tough with the price of feed and everything, and we are a small yard. It is getting harder every day and to win this is unreal. My mother and father haven't been racing for three years, I am coming here all my life so it is great for everyone. This and the Kerry National, I have both won and we'll head back to Kerry with him now. He came from the sales in Goresbridge for €800. I met this horse coming in the back gate with a lovely walk and Paddy Mullins had said to me years ago 'if a horse can't walk, he can't run'. I went there to buy another horse and live only five minutes from the sales company, so went home for grub but was thinking about him and went back down and bought him. It has been a dream since there as he was unlucky to fall in his point-to-points, and otherwise would have been sold. He gave him a great ride, knew the horse and fair dues to Gordon (Elliott) who allowed me use the chap - he could have told him to ride one of his but said 'your horse has a chance', so allowed me use him. He was the first man to shake my hand coming back in.After Hewick (IRE) finished 1st at Galway on Wed, 27th Jul 2022 2m 6f Hcap Chase Good

Quotes on Journey With Me (IRE)
We're happy with that. We just said we'd sit him in and see if he'd be happy enough to settle away as he's always making it. In a normal race he would have been but after half a mile Rachael had to go on. He was good, still a bit green in front, but I'm happy with him. Obviously further will suit him, I hope. Nothing is set in stone but I'd say, in my head, I'd be going for the Ballymore. That's two-five. We'll discuss it with connections, today was great and we'll enjoy that. After Journey With Me (IRE) finished 1st at Naas on Sat, 12th Feb 2022 2m 3f Hurdle Soft
