FormscanBy Stuart Howden - Although official ratings would suggest Daddy Long Legs, an emphatic winner at Tipperary last month, is the one to beat, BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD can prove too strong. Six from seven so far, Gordon Elliott's mare put the boys in their place when routing the field in the Mersey Novices' Hurdle at Aintree in April. Her only defeat came at the Cheltenham Festival the previous month and she will take all the beating if returning on song. Stablemate King Of Kingsfield appeals most of the remainder.

Quotes on Daddy Long Legs (FR)
he showed a huge turn of foot. He was in front way too soon, and I'm sure Paul would have kicked himself but he said to me the horse just carried him and he didn't want to disappoint him. He's a horse that could go back on the Flat and is maybe one for Royal Ascot. He's still a maiden on the Flat, he's only had one run when finishing second in France. I'd say he's very ground dependent, in winter time in heavy ground he wasn't able to handle it but on this ground it seems to be a different ball game. He surprised me, especially after being in Ludlow last week. To come back from England and do that in a big handicap is good. After Daddy Long Legs (FR) finished 1st at Punchestown on Tue, 30th Apr 2024 2m Hcap Hurdle Yielding

Quotes on Brighterdaysahead (FR)
The horses have been running well week, but we’ve been hitting the crossbar. I said a lot about this mare leading up to Cheltenham and I was gutted coming out of it, but we’re overjoyed today. She’s very good, I was nervous before the race because looking at her I thought she looked a bit light across her kidneys, but she showed how special she is. We can go wherever we want with her. I’m not going to say the best mare I’ve had because Apple’s Jade was pretty special, but she’s good. In this game there are always disappointments, but I look at life totally different now, I just love training winners and I love horses. But to win today is unbelievable. I don’t think the trip was the reason she got beat at Cheltenham, I thought she’d win. Willie’s horse (Jade De Grugy) has already come out and won at Fairyhouse. I just think on the day Jack and Paul (Townend) were watching each other and the other horse (Golden Ace) came and did them both. She’s gorgeous to look at.After Brighterdaysahead (FR) finished 1st at Aintree on Sat, 13th Apr 2024 2m 4f Hurdle Good to Soft

Quotes on Smooth Tom (IRE)
He's a versatile horse and I think he'll stay two miles,. I forgot to enter him for the Irish Cesarewitch this year and I'd say it will suit him. We might run him in the Grade 3 hurdle at Down Royal on Friday week if he's alright and give him a little break then. The handicapper can't touch him there at the weights as the second is rated 86. There is also the Listed Finale Stakes back here on the last day but I'll probably run him over hurdles, he likes small fields. He ran well the last day, it was kind of a non event with Daddy Long Legs going out in front and he didn't follow him. He rode for second and got second. He was second in the Lincoln as well this year so he's very versatile. Keith Donoghue rode him in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown last year and thought he'd be an ideal horse for a Galway Hurdle but we had to give him a break at that stage. Adam is a very good rider. A few things went wrong for him this year and he's gone through a lean spell so it's great for him to get a winner. He's well able to ride. After Smooth Tom (IRE) finished 1st at Curragh on Tue, 22nd Oct 2024 1m 4f Flat Soft

Quotes on King Of Kingsfield (IRE)
That was great. We were riding him all wrong and the last day we changed our minds in the Grade One. Jack (Kennedy) was delighted with the way he settled and he jumped well, so we’re very happy. He’s not a bad horse and to be honest he had disappointed me up until now as I always thought he was a proper horse. He might just come good now, I’d say the ground could be key to him as well. After King Of Kingsfield (IRE) finished 1st at Leopardstown on Tue, 26th Dec 2023 2m Maiden Hurdle Yielding

Quotes on Miss Fourie (IRE)
Her form this year was good and she ran a cracker at Galway but before that race, she ran off the bend at Sligo when I think she should have won and at Tramore the last day, I thought it was an easy target but she did the exact same thing. She is just a little clever but is grand going this direction and is a lovely filly. . To be honest I was 50-50 on whether to run or not, due to the rain, but I said to Aisling that we might as well chance it as her season could be over if we get much more rain after this. It worked out great and I'm delighted for Jake who is a good little rider. She'll be a grand filly over fences next year. After Miss Fourie (IRE) finished 1st at Killarney on Thu, 22nd Aug 2024 2m 1f Hcap Hurdle Good to Yielding
