Seamus Neville, trainer of Legal Lord (GB), reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge scoped wrong post race. The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Market's Field, ridden by P.E. Corbett, and trained by E. Bolger. Evidence was heard from the trainer's representative and rider concerned. Sarah Bermingham, Authorised representative for E. Bolger, trainer, stated that she was aware of the riding instructions as given which referred to the animal being ridden in seventh or eighth place on the outside to allow him to see his fences and furthermore that the rider was to do his best. She added that this animal had only done plenty of cantering since his return from a summer break and had not been worked either at home or away. In her opinion the animal was not fully fit and was giving a good blow post race. She felt that there was no requirement to scope the animal post race as she had no concerns into his well being. She expressed an opinion that P.E. Corbett had ridden to instructions but should have shown more determination in the closing stages . P.E. Corbett, rider, confirmed the instructions and added that he rode as instructed but started to push his mount from a long way out and only finished well past tired horses. He confirmed that his mount felt normal at all stages of this race but gave a heave after the winning post. He accepted that he did not ride at his strongest as he felt a little weak as he had been wasting to ride later today at a light weight. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Market's Field was having a good blow when examined post race but a subsequent examination found the animal to be clinically abnormal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations
