Flanagan off the 'cold list'
we have a connection to a French Bloodstock Agent through my partner Barry Murphy and he (Guy Petit, who is married to Murphy's sister) advised us to buy Gamede. Guy said there would be plenty of improvement in Gamede as he had run on very heavy ground in France but wants good ground. He has small feet and is a light horse but had been working very well. We would have been happy with a first four or five finish today though and he'll have one more run before going to Punchestown.
Hughes & Flood on the mark
that was a good performance by Canaly and he liked that better ground. We'll aim him at something at Fairyhouse and Punchestown next.
First Impressions go unnoticed
First Impressions appreciated the step up in trip but these maiden hurdles are very hard to win and I didn't think he'd win one. He likes nice ground and will have no problem staying three miles. . He is a nicely related horse and his dam is closely related to Florida Pearl and he should make a very nice chasing prospect next season.
Smyth ends long wait
I have four horses in training and I only work with castoffs from other yards! I was given Cantrell by his previous owners and the good thing about training castoffs is at least nobody expects anything of you!
False Messenger delivers
False Messenger must have been fooling me all year as I fancied her several days but the first-time blinkers today were a big help. It's great for us and Adrian (Heskin) to be going to Cheltenham with a recent winner.
Outsider Artic wins Naas finale
I thought he'd have been sold after his point to point win but we decided to leave him off then as he wants good ground. We were worried about today's dead ground and it looked a serious race on paper. We'll go to Punchestwon next and hope for some nice ground.
