The winner, Late Romantic (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 1 November 2020 where the gelding was pulled up in a field of twelve runners.
The representative of Oliver Greenall explained that Late Romantic (IRE) had stripped fitter for its reappearance run after a 246-day break and further appreciated the flatter Haydock track on this occasion.
His comments were noted.
Following the race, Charlie Deutsch reported that Burtons Well (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
