Roche makes most of opportunity on McCreery's Killourney
it was a nice spare to get. Noel told me to ride him with lots of confidence, he thought with that kind of weight he'd be competitive and he duly obliged. He told me to leave him alone as he thought he made a little bit too much use of him the last day and it didn't work. He told me to ride him cold and confident.
Joseph O'Brien eyeing Royal Ascot trip with Altair
she's a lovely filly. She was still very green today and was on and off the bridle and ran around a bit in the straight. Donnacha (O'Brien) said at Navan the last day that she was exceptionally green. She'll probably go up in trip now; she's in the Ribblesdale and I wouldn't be against thinking about going there. She's a nice filly and we think she will stay further. We think plenty of her.
Blankiedoodie springs 40/1 surprise
he had snippets of form that were okay and he was beaten one day in Ayr by a horse that went up about 25lb afterwards; he just had little issues. We sent him hurdling and he didn't enjoy that. I think he was delighted to see no hurdles and when he saw the stalls he went 'yahoo' and put his best foot forward!. He's not a superstar but he definitely had the ability to win off that mark. I'm delighted to get it out of him because we kept him a long time believing he had it in him. We might go across to Ayr or something like that with him. Gary said he picked up plenty and he'll stay further. I think we might shelve hurdling anyway — that's the Champion Hurdle gone off the agenda anyway!
'Talented' Orr rides out his claim on Weld winner
she did it nicely. She progressed well from when she was third here, she ran a lovely race and did what we thought she'd do. She's a nice filly for the future and hopefully we'll go up to stakes level now, probably at a mile or a mile-and-a-quarter. She came home well there. You'd hope that she'd be, potentially, a very nice black-type/stakes filly. It was a mile there today and I think another furlong or two would be well within her compass.
Tony The Gent gains fourth career win
I suppose he was due that. When the handicapper has you you just have to keep plugging away until you get down to your mark again. It's as fast as he wants it and he deserves that and Colin said he picked up well. You'd expect him to win that as he did and he just needs to stay in this bracket. We've been claiming off him with the kids but they're just not strong enough for him, he's been taking the mickey out of them.
Fit For Function's win provides Murphy with timely boost
that's the thrills and spills of racing — the ups and downs all in the space of 24 hours. He's (Fit For Function) in again at Listowel on Sunday and he'll go again if the ground doesn't go too soft. He's a nice genuine horse. Up to his mark he's limited.
Championship-leader Keane completes Gowran double
I'm delighted for Homer as she has only done there what she's been promising to do at home for ages. She's been more than disappointing in the last 24 months and she's dropped down to the lowest mark that we were prepared to give her. If she didn't perform tonight she was finished. Colin wanted blinkers and with the blinkers on and motor-biking her round on the track, everything fell into place. It's no more than she's capable of and she's probably capable of a lot more. Whether we persevere now with her, we'll see. She's from a good old family with My Laureate bouncing back to form, Insayshable over in Hong Kong, and Ainippe previously. It's a family worth having for the shed but whether we persevere after that one we'll decide later on because I don't think she's in love with it.
