The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. P.L. Malone, that Mr. C.W. McCormack, rider of Rolling Revenge, had presented himself to weigh out at 3lbs overweight, none of which was declared at declaration time. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that this was the case. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the overweight on this occasion having consulted with Thomas Coyle, trainer of Rolling Revenge. The Stewards were, however, satisfied that Mr. C.W. McCormack was in breach of both Rule 195 and Rule 198 and having considered his record, they issued a fine of €150 on this occasion
Owing to the trajectory of the Sun, the Stewards granted permission for fence numbers 5,6 and 7 to be omitted from this race.
An extended handicap steeplechase for four years old and upwards rated 0-116 Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 12st and the minimum weight is 9st 12lbs Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each steeplechase won.
