An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Mr Millarcky (GB), ridden by Shane Kelly and trained by Rae Guest, which jumped well from the stalls before losing its position on the rail to sit in mid-division and then appeared to be tenderly handled in the closing stages to finish fourth, beaten by 4 lengths.

The rider and the trainer’s representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated his instructions had been to jump alertly from a good draw and then either make the running or take a lead and from then on do his best, adding that he was mindful of Mr Millarcky (GB) having been off the track for 193 days.

He further added that after jumping well, the gelding could not go the pace of the leaders and he therefore tracked the early pacesetters, before asking for an effort approximately 2 furlongs out.

He continued that when putting Mr Millarcky (GB) under pressure the gelding had blown up and then hung left- handed in the closing stages, a fact he had reported at Scales.

The trainer’s representative stated that the ride accorded with the instructions given by the trainer earlier in the day and both he and the trainer were satisfied with the ride given.

Following the race, Aled Beech reported that Rubee Forty (GB), unplaced, was slowly away.
