Permission was given for both Howzak (GB) and Wakai Umi (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Permission was also given for Birkenhead (GB) to go early to post and for Spanish Angel (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
The Starter reported that Howzak (GB) refused to enter the stalls.
Deborah Faulkner was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
Ryan Sexton, the rider of Birkenhead (GB), placed fifth, had appeared to ride less vigorously shortly before the winning post and was beaten a head for fourth place.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Sexton explained that Birkenhead (GB) was tiring, beginning to hang right in the closing stages having made the running and, being so close to the line, had lost no momentum so, in his opinion, had achieved his best possible placing.
Sexton's comments were noted.
Following the race, Lewis Edmunds reported that So Sleepy (GB), placed fourth, hung left-handed in the home straight and Alex Jary reported that Basholo (IRE), unplaced, reared leaving the stalls.
