Hernes defies drift to claim opener at Cork
Twomey makes perfect start for Newtown Anner with Market
That's my first runner for Newtown Anner Stud and we worked her once or twice and she showed us plenty,. She is forward going and onward bound and I was just hoping she was ready to start. If she put it together I thought she could win. Her brother was second in the Grade 1 Keeneland Mile, her mother is by Danehill and she has natural ability and we haven't done that much with her. She will be kept sprinting but if she strengthens up she could stay further.
Soul on top for Carroll and Lyons
He came on an awful lot from his Bellewstown run and we expected that but Colin (Keane) couldn't get off Jarvis because he is a very genuine horse. The winner improved for the blinkers but we were worried about the ground and Gary was sensible and came up on the virgin unpoached ground. Both him and Jarvis are very fast and a track like this suits them. Both will run in those handicaps and are very good fun horses.
Shawaamekh scores on first start for Levins
I got him on the recommendation of Declan Carroll and David Nolan (jockey) as his owner was replacing him with yearlings and thankfully he gave me a call and I've loved him since the day he came in the yard,. He is a lovely big strong brute of a horse and ran well in all his races for Declan last year when he had a few unlucky stories. Declan rang this morning and gave Donagh the instructions so I had no real part in it!. I'd love to find something in York for him if he continues to go the right way as he has run well there in the past. There is a good bunch of lads involved, Ross Howard, John O'Riordan, Tom Lynch and Jason McGannon so I'm delighted to get a winner for them.
Lyons doubles up with Janoobi
Oasis lands hat-trick in style
He won well again and I hate criticising races but it didn't look the strongest of contests so he was entitled to win,. He is a three year old on the up, he liked the ground and we'll see what the handicapper does now.
