An enquiry was held to consider whether James Davies, the rider of Max Forte (IRE) which was pulled up after having attempted to jump the second last fence, had continued in the race when in rear.
The rider and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed and recordings of the incident were viewed.
The Veterinary Officer stated that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Davies explained that having jumped the fourth and third last fences cleanly, Max Forte (IRE) had lost momentum as a result of two horses falling in front of him and his mount pricking his ears and decelerating when attempting to jump the second last, which resulted in the gelding jumping onto the fence.
His explanation was accepted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Marley Firth (IRE), unplaced, was found to be lame on its left-fore.
