Comer's stallion sires first winner
Gambled first-reserve overturns 1/6 favourite
he's a smashing horse. I liked him a lot before he ran first time out but he got a bit lost around Gowran and just weakened out on me so we took our time with him. He's a beautiful moving horse with a great mind and a great attitude. Niall said he'll improve a lot, he had a good blow there and ran around a bit in front. He had a wide passage all the way around but there was nothing he could do about that. He's just a nice horse with a future. More time wouldn't go astray on him as he'll make a nicer three-year-old, it's just nice to get a two-year-old race with him. His future is all ahead of him.
Coleman excited by Dundalk winner Lolly Yeats
she (Lolly Yeats) is a very good filly. I thought a lot of her and she ran a blinder at the Curragh the first time, I ran her back too quick the next time and she wasn't quite right. Then she ran a blinder in Roscommon and the last day she actually colicked after the race on the way home. She hasn't done anything wrong, she's a big filly and she's only three. I think she could get black-type somewhere, she needs good ground. If you had asked me earlier in the year if it would have taken this long to win a maiden I'd have said no chance. That's the way it goes. I don't know what to do with her now to be honest. I haven't clipped her because we said we'd probably finish up after tonight, win, lose or draw. She could be good enough to just put away now but when they are going well it's hard to stop.
Unclaimed Akhlaaq scores for Martin & Colgan
he was entitled to do that off his run in the claimer. He's in great form and it's great for the boy that owns him, Dave Field, who is a real good fella. He stuck with him, he hasn't been the easiest horse and things didn't really go right for him. He never got a clear run at it but touch wood it's gone well the last day and today. Fingers crossed it will keep going that way. He did it well there and the last day was grand whereas before you could never get two good runs into him. Things never went his way but hopefully now we might be on a bit of a roll with him.
Rice trains first winner with 50/1 outsider
we take her here most Tuesday mornings to give her a piece of work so it's paid off and that's my very first winner. I've been trying a couple of years and if you keep trying you'll get there. I train over in Ravensdale which is only seven or eight minutes away. she's a bad traveller so we wouldn't be travelling too far with her. I ran her as a two-year-old, maybe I shouldn't have as she was a bit weak, but some jockeys say the experience has done her the world of good. I'm delighted to get the first winner and we'll come back here again. I'll see how she is in the morning but she's a great grubber so no doubt she'll be as sound as a pound in the morning.
First win for nicely supported Shamardalah
I was planning to jump and follow a few but there was no mad rush on. I rode her two starts back in Killarney and I was a bit annoyed with myself as I got caught behind a slow pace so I just went on about it today. She was having a good look around and she was lugging to the right the whole way but I think she just wasn't killing herself in front. I was always confident I was going to stay going.
