Miss Joanna Mason, the rider of Risk Mitigation (USA) had fallen entering the final bend.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no other horse or rider was involved and that the incident was accidental and caused by the gelding sustaining an injury.
The Clerk of the Scales objected to General Allenby (GB), placed third, ridden by Miss Molly Presland, and trained by Shaun Keightley, on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 9st 8lbs, having weighed out at 9st 10lbs.
General Allenby (GB) was disqualified and the placings were revised as follows: Third – Keith (GB); Fourth – Duke Of Yorkshire (GB); Fifth – Seventii (GB); Sixth – Mamdood (IRE) and Seventh – Viscount Wilson (GB).
The rider, the trainer and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed.
Having heard their evidence, Presland was suspended for 4 days.
