The Veterinary Officer reported that upon inspection, Samstar (GB) was grey and not chestnut as published in the racecard.
Robert Havlin, the rider of Suakin (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, reported that the filly had commenced to hang badly right-handed on the bend going out for the final circuit before Suakin (IRE) then jammed on entering the back straight when Local Affair (GB) improved upsides his mount.
The filly had then jinked sharply left-handed on several occasions and became unrideable for approximately one furlong, losing a considerable amount of ground.
Havlin added that it was not until Suakin (IRE) had been passed by the whole field that the filly had consented to race tractably again.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
