After an initial false start, the start was effected successfully on the second attempt.
However, having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
The sponsorship in relation to Tres Bien (GB), trained by Philip Kirby, did not comply with the Sponsorship Code of Conduct.
Kirby was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that the correct sponsorship is carried.
Aaron Anderson, the rider of East Eagle (IRE), had fallen rounding the home bend.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
It was found that no other horse or rider was involved and was caused by the gelding losing its footing and slipping on the bend.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Will Knott (IRE), ridden by Sam Coltherd and trained by Stuart Coltherd, which was held up in rear to be ridden under apparent tender handling to finish sixth of nine finishers beaten by 28 ¾ lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Veterinary Officer examined the gelding on two occasions post-race and had nothing to report.
The rider stated that his instructions were to try and settle the gelding as he had shown tendencies to be keen and was also mindful of the step up in trip to 2 miles 3 furlongs and 188 yards on rain softened ground.
Coltherd added that the race was being ran at an even pace and was satisfied with his positioning but was concerned by the jumping errors which Will Knott (IRE) was making throughout, a fact that he had reported at scales.
Coltherd further explained that as he was making ground and asking for a more substantial effort at the top of the hill, his mount was badly hampered by the fall of East Eagle (IRE) and became unbalanced as a result causing him to loose significant ground and momentum at which point elected to allow Will Knott (IRE) to regain his feet before finishing off the race to obtain in his opinion the best possible placing under the circumstances.
The trainer confirmed the instructions were accurate and that he was satisfied with the ride given in the circumstances of the horse being hampered at a crucial stage of the race.
Their explanations were noted.
