The Stewards received a report from Mr.P.L.Malone , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that A.E. Lynch, rider of Harangue, weighed in at 1.6 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Rule 231 and having considered his record, suspended him for one race day. D.N. Russell, rider of Company Coming, trained by J.H. Culloty, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a few mistakes and did not travel on the second circuit. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Company Coming, trained by J.H. Culloty, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be stiff behind post race. A.E. Lynch, rider of Harangue, trained by Paul John Gilligan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not travel well coming down the hill.
An extended handicap steeplechase for five yrs old and upwards rated 0-123 that have not won a steeplechase before 4th May 2014, other than one hunters steeplechase within the previous two National Hunt seasons. Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each such steeplechase won.
