Mike O'Connor rides first winner
That was very good and it's great to get off the mark at the start of the season,. He travelled very well and everything went his way. When I him a squeeze he quickened and stayed at it, he helped me a lot. I'm from a small village called Curraglass in County Cork. I turned 16 in September and signed on with Fozzy at the end of last season. He has been very good to me and treated me like family. I was champion pony rider for the south region last year. I have to thank my father and also Jerry Daly down in Newmarket in County Cork.

Ronan said he got him out of a bit of a hole but I think he's just being hard on himself as it was another beautiful ride. It's funny that when sprinters hit form they hit form. The only problem is that there is nothing more for him for ages as he won't go on the soft. I think I'll just put him out now and he can have a couple of months break and then look at the back end on good ground and then aim at Dundalk again. He just needs that kind of ground. There are things over the summer but a lot of them are apprentice races. He takes knowing and a lot of apprentices don't get on with him. He's been very unlucky in a lot of apprentice races. He is the age he is and we'll keep him to races that Ronan, or some of the lads that know him, can ride him in. It's great to have him over the winter here also.
Could It Be Love could be bound for better things
She had been working very well at home and the step up to seven suited her,. As you can see she's a monster of a filly so probably with the extra year she grew into herself better. She's not a bad filly. She's probably a stakes filly. Quick ground is going to be important to her, over seven furlongs or a mile. She's American-bred, they are all sharp and have those reflexes. I didn't even have to give her a squeeze to get to the front and that's a big advantage around here.
"Often more delighted" but Prendergast's "got the money"
She didn't do a stroke. It wasn't the way to ride her, as she's a hold-up filly, but he had to make it as there was no pace,. She battled on well when they joined her but she'd want to improve a good bit. She raced very green. It would be very new to her as she'd never been up here. The last time she was away was Leopardstown. She's got the job done and she's broke her maiden. We'll see where we go and play it by ear.

O'Sullivan starts week as he means to go on
That's a great start (to the week). He battled well. He's a horse that won over a mile-and-a-half in Cork last autumn, with Gary Carroll, and we were planning to run him over hurdles. He had a bit of a delay about two weeks ago and he missed out on it. Looking at the program there was no race coming up over hurdles so I said to his owner John Bowden that we'd give him a run on the Flat to start him off. John is away on holidays in Singapore. I'm not sure what the time difference is but hopefully he got to see it. He's a grand dual purpose horse and he'll do fine again during the summer over hurdles. He was placed over hurdles the first day and there will be a little hurdle race in him. He stays well, stays going and wants a bit of nice ground. I said to Danny jumping out today wherever he jumps and travels, even if he ends up seventh or eighth, to leave him alone. As soon as you force him to do something he gets annoyed.
Joey Sasa impressive on Flat race debut
I suppose it wasn't much of a race really but he did it smoothly,. He loves that good ground and he (Colin) said he floated around there. He might run on the Flat somewhere again. I suppose he won't go to Fairyhouse with the ground the way it is and he'll probably wait for Punchestown. Although the one in Fairyhouse is worth 100,000 Euros which is tempting, we'll see. He'll probably head for Galway again but there is Fairyhouse and Punchestown first. He doesn't want soft ground, that's the problem.
