The winner Deconso (GB) appeared to show an improvement in form, compared with its previous run at Ripon on 9 August 2021, where the gelding finished ninth of fourteen beaten 8½ lengths.
It was noted that Christopher Kellett could offer no explanation for the improved form, other than the gelding jumped out the stalls and travelled better on this occasion.
Following the race, Mr Patrick Millman reported that Destroyer (GB), placed sixth, ran flat; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
