He has plenty of weight (11st 6lb) and off a mark of 152 it’s not going to be easy, but hopefully he has a good chance. Some Neck won his beginners’ chase here and Richie Deegan takes 5lb off his back. Richie is very good value for his claim and won a Grade One for us in last season’s Punchestown Champion Bumper. The Stewards interviewed Mr. P.W. Mullins, rider of Mall Dini, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race, following a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned and also from Patrick. G. Kelly, trainer of Mall Dini. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f), in that he had used his whip with excessive force. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account and mitigating circumstances, the Stewards suspended Mr. P.W. Mullins for 1 raceday.
