He ran well in Gowran but the draw today worried us. Danny’s instructions were to try and break smartly and get into position which he did.

That's Mad sprints to victory for Manning & Breen
He ran very well here last year and was beaten by a good filly in A Step Too Far. In those better races it suits him as he has a better pace to aim at. He was very tough there today as it wasn’t straight forward for him. He’s done it well. He’s run against a lot of those horses before and they have beaten him, so to get up today is good and means that he’s improving. We’ll see what the handicapper does but there is plenty of races for him. We’ll keep him busy this year as he’s getting tougher and taking his races well.
Franno comes good for the Keanes
She’s been very consistent without winning and has been knocking on the door a good while. Joe Doyle usually rides her and he thought the last day it would suit to put a bit of headgear back on her and a rubber bit as she has a sensitive mouth. I’d say it’s probably as far as she wants to go and hopefully now that she has got her head in front she might get another one or two. She doesn’t do a whole pile wrong in defeat so she deserved it.
McConnell strikes at local track with Third Avenue
We thought he’d run very well the last day (twelfth at Fairyhouse) but he was disappointing and we don’t know why. The ground was really quick that day and Bellewstown have done a brilliant job with the ground — it’s genuine good ground and very safe.
