Tim Easterby had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run Storm Fox (IRE) partially shod.
Cieren Fallon, the rider of Silencer (IRE), unplaced, had appeared to ride less vigorously in the closing stages of the race, to be beaten a head for fourth place.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Fallon explained that he felt the gelding’s stride shorten, and as such, he felt it prudent to ride out hands and heels and that in his opinion the gelding had obtained the best possible placing.
His explanation was noted.
Following the race Tom Marquand reported that Jamie Bond (GB), unplaced, ran too free and Faye McManoman reported that Talented (GB), unplaced, hung right-handed under pressure.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Silencer (IRE), unplaced, during routine testing revealed that the gelding finished lame right-fore.
