Burn and Turn continues Harrington's good run
I'm delighted with that - Burn And Turn absolutely hated the ground and Robert said it was her ability that got her through. She jumped brilliant and should be much better in the spring. Her size suggests that anything she does this year is a bonus as she is a great big mare. If the ground is good she will come back for the Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle here on February 12 but I don't know about Cheltenham but she could go to Aintree - the ground is the key.
Flemenstar bolts up in Arkle Chase
we're not going to Cheltenham with him this year but we might go for the Powers Gold Cup instead . he likes that soft ground. It's great that his owner (Stephen Curran) hung onto him or else I wouldn't have him! My son Peter said this morning that Flemenstar was in great form and he had a spin at The Curragh last week. He settled well and did everything right and is a lovely horse. I always thought the world of him and am delighted to have him!
Flood's Senior scores
Alan gave him a great ride and waited and waited. After the race, Alan was telling me that he loves that ground but I was afraid before the race that it was too soft. He travelled well in his hands and when he got there, it looked like he would go away but he was just holding on at the line. We'll stay at two miles at the minute provided there are those types races for him.
Bob wins for Willie and Wylie
there was a day we galloped a few at Thurles some time ago - horses we thought were top horses. One of the young lads in the yard was riding Boston Bob and he came through the other horses going easily and we thought that day we had a racehorse. I thought he had the size and scope to carry today's penalty but three out I wasn't so sure! Ruby said he hated the ground and his pedigree says he should go on better ground. He looks a big strong chaser and we look forward to him going chasing next season. He could have gone chasing this season but we just decided to go ‘through the motions' over hurdles for now and it has taught him to race.
Gray making Irish return pay
Ted Veale takes Leopardstown bumper
Ted Veale is a lovely prospect and is a chaser in the making. He would prefer better ground than today's but gets a trip and jumps well. His owner John Breslin is a great supporter of mine but is based in the States and we'll have to plan things around when he is in Ireland - I'd say Ted Veale will run over hurdles soon.
