I told Ruby to ride him as you find him and don't try and beat Jezki. €œComing to the final flight Fly always gets a good jump but Jezki got a fantastic one as well. When he got over the last he put his ears back and no horse I've ever seen can battle like him. €œWhen he got his head in front he kept it there and he's just a professional. Fly is just never finished. He got up beside him and he just toughed it out all the way to the line on drying ground. I think it was probably the driest ground he has encountered. €œRuby said he jumped a shadow at the first and landed on it. He had a bit of gorse stuck in his girth coming back in which must have been uncomfortable for him. €œHe didn't look happy going away on the bend from the stands and it took him until about the mile to warm up.

When we took the rug off him in the parade ring many onlookers felt he was a bit heavy. But his homework suggested he was stronger than last year. Ruby was tactically very good. The onus was on the champion to deal with the pace, and it was easier for us to ride our race. It won't be always that easy through the season. Tactically we had the advantage today.

if you'd seen the bit of work I'd seen him (Hurricane Fly) do during the week! It was terrible and his worst bit of work ever; I was so disappointed that I came down off the gallops thinking 'the dream is over' and maybe it's come to the stage where he's had enough. Thankfully that night we found a bruise in his foot and, once poulticed, he seemed find the next morning. However that bad bit of work stuck in my mind all week and certainly when Our Conor loomed up beside him, I thought 'that bad bit of work will beat him' and we'd get beaten on the day.

It was a hugely tactical race. Ruby was very cool on him. I thought they had left the horse in front too long. He flew the last and Ruby said he was idling in front. He's improving all the time. That race will bring him on a bit and he'll be back here for the champion hurdle.

He just can handle any conditions and he's got a guy like Ruby riding him. Paul (Townend) does all the home-work with him and last Saturday himself and Quevega worked and they blew me away. Champagne Fever worked well too but he was disappointing on Tuesday for whatever reason. We were keeping our fingers crossed then all week that we'd get Hurricane Fly here in that kind of form. I'd love to have a crack at the French Champion Hurdle but I have two or three for that including Thousand Stars who ran a cracker there. Dawn Run did the treble, and I've no doubt he could, but we'll probably put him away. Hopefully we get him back in the same form next autumn. You always have to be scared of these younger horses coming through, they have to be respected. They could improve a stone whereas my fellow won't.

Ruby said he's as good as he ever saw him. He gave him a squeeze turning off the last bend and he said it was just like he 'jumped in'. He took off like he was on summer ground and I just hope to keep him in that form over the next six or seven weeks. I've had faith in him all year and he seems to be in the sort of form he was two years ago.

He wasn't impressive going past the winning post first time and just his class won the race for him,. Ruby thought he would be in better form going to the third last but he wasn't. Once he pulled him out and sent him about his job he did it though. The ground was real tacky and maybe he doesn't like that now. As they get older horses get a preference for ground. We'll see where we go from here. We'll probably put him away now. He just had an off day in Cheltenham. He only did enough today. Maybe next year we'll ride him like a normal horse as he's always been very keen and we've been trying to settle him. He settled at Leopardstown in January but he settled too much at Cheltenham. My job now is to try and get the Champion Hurdle back. Zaidpour ran a cracker and I thought he was going to cause an upset but he just got done for a bit of speed. He could go to France as could Thousand Stars.

He is a professional little jumper and he is by far the best hurdler I've ever ridden. He is an incredible little horse. We were on home ground today and he was fantastic. What can I say . he was awesome. Thousand Stars might go to France as he seems to thrive on racing and he could go and run on the flat over the summer as well.

Thousand Stars went a searching pace, and it was a proper trial for Cheltenham. He cut his heel here the last day, and only worked average the other day. That was a good performance and we'll give him a little break now before building him up again for Cheltenham. He can jump a bit right when there is nothing on his outside but is very slick when other horses are around him.

Paul gave him a terrific ride. He pulled very hard early on but he managed to get him back for a breather and at the second last the horse got his second wind. He was very professional at the last and then put his head down and done his job. I think he'll improve for the run and there looks like there's more to come. We'll look at Christmas now (the Grade 1 Leopardstown Golf Centre December Festival Hurdle) and the Irish Champion.
