Base Player made a promising debut here, running out a cosy winner.
Andrew Duff waited with the gelding before making up ground approaching the bend. He travelled well into the lead under two furlongs out and stayed on strongly after being asked to keep up to his work in the final furlong.
The winner has an entry in the Landrover bumper at Punchestown and had shown trainer Sneezy Foster " a good few gears" at home.
"I wanted to get a run into him as he's a bit green," added the handler, who is better known as a point-to-point handler. "He worked so well at home that we decided to go to the track with him."
Beneficial Bank was ridden to challenge and dispute two furlongs out but couldn't match the winner and was always booked for second.
Lasse Viern took over at the head of affairs over four furlongs out but flattened out after being headed two furlongs out and was one paced.
6/4f Judge Roy Bean proved a big disappointment. He was close enough in fourth over two furlongs out but found little and was soon beaten.
Lillinga, ridden in a moderate fifth over two furlongs out, kept on at one pace into fourth.
Seeability was available at big prices in the morning (33/1) and attracted further support on course (14/1 to 10/1). He was never at the races.
Timetosteel, who had tracked the leaders, was weakening out of it when falling before the turn.
