Shrill impresses on debut
She's a nice little filly. She likes that ground and barely bends the knee. She may go for the five-furlong Listed race (July 11th) at Tipperary.
McCreery & Lee double up with Ostatnia
She's been very consistent in her maidens but is bone idle and I put the visor on to try and get her to focus a bit. She's owned by Stephen McCarthy who worked for the late John Mulhern in the yard I'm now renting, and she'll go now for the Rockingham. Ideally if we could find a fillies only Listed race over five furlongs that would be great. That's really a treble as I had the last winner in Navan yesterday!
Reason scoops another big Irish prize
Words shows her class in Munster Oaks
Queen wins the Cork Derby for Fahy & O'Brien
Anybody could see she was extremely unlucky at the Curragh last time. I was really worried about the ground today, and walked every bit of it. I left it up to Donnacha to mind her if she didn't travel on it.
Grant wins on first ride back
It's Danny's first ride back and he's back with a bang. She's a lovely little filly but needs to get everything right. The handicapper will probably give her a slap after that but I'm delighted for the syndicate (the Hat Creek Racing Syndicate) from Savannah, Georgia and it's great as two of them are here today.
Gallope provides Dobbs with welcome winner
I've always liked this filly and considered her our best flat horse. It's wonderful for Charlie (O'Reilly, owner) as he picked her out at the sales himself and liked her pedigree. We'll take baby steps and see how she comes out of this. I don't think she wants soft ground but a little more give would help. We've had a bit of a drought (first winner in ten months) and hopefully it will now turn into a torrent!
