Don Patricio scores for Brassils and owner/breeder Hayes
he’d a grand run in a bumper but did a bit too much in the race, and the last day he ran way too keen and wasn’t left alone. I thought if he got an easy lead today that the experience he got the last day would be of some benefit. He relaxed lovely in front and was able to dictate the pace. I knew he’d quicken up well as he’s out of a fast horse. He’d shown enough that he could win one of those and possibly progress. He could go for a novice in Galway all being well.

Burkes successfully team up with Belle West
I have been fierce disappointed with her. The only other day she got that ground was in Thurles. To ride her at home she is very shouldery but she obviously wants it. We took a chance coming here as I thought it was a bit short for her but it’s worked out. She ran well last time in Wexford but the ground was better today. She was covered twice but didn’t get in foal. She’s owned by Jerry O’Connell whose brother Danny was a trainer.
McNamara & Maxwell on the mark with multiple winner Monarch
the race just worked out ideally for him and the two of them (leader Roachdale House and chasing Mandarin Monarch got a handy enough lead. Things haven’t worked out quite as well as we would have hoped this summer but that’s probably the most valuable race he’s won. There is a good bunch of lads involved, they are all from Galway so he’ll be rolling on to the Festival probably for a staying race on the Flat. He’s a horse we claimed for E10,000 and he’s after winning five for the lads and it’s their first ever horse.
