The Stewards enquired into an incident in the back straight involving Melvin The Grate, ridden by R. Hughes, placed fifth and Fiosrach, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed third, where it appeared that Melvin The Grate ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that K.J.Manning had ridden carelessly and having considered his excellent record, severely cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (85 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 85 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 85 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 85 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
