Ellie MacKenzie, the rider of the winner, Para Queen (IRE), was suspended for 2 days for using her whip above the permitted level from approaching 2 furlongs out.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, MacKenzie was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Para Queen (IRE), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
Heather Main was interviewed.
Her comments that this was Para Queen (IRE)’s first run in a Handicap and was better suited by the step up in trip from 1m2f to 1m3f were noted and the filly was routine tested.
Following the race, Martin Dwyer reported that Teemlucky (GB), unplaced, was slowly away and the Veterinary Officer reported that the filly lost its right hind shoe.
Adam McNamara reported that Breakfast Time (GB), unplaced, fly leapt from the stalls.
Luke Morris reported that CHENG SONG, placed seventh, was never travelling and the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding lost its right hind shoe.
