An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Nebuchadnezzar (FR), placed second, ridden by Tom Cannon, Jackson Hill (IRE), placed third, ridden by Kevin Jones, and Ebony Gale (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Richard Johnson, who all raced detached from the winner which ran too freely gaining an advantage, then asked their mounts for an effort down the back straight and rounding the final bend.
The riders were interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The riders stated that, in their opinion, the winner, Totterdown (GB), was going plenty quick enough in the heavy ground and they thought that the gelding would come back to them.
They further added that if they had asked their mounts for an effort sooner, they did not believe they would have got home in the ground.
Their explanations were noted.
Following the race, Paddy Brennan reported that the winner, Totterdown (GB), ran too free, and the representative of Neil Mulholland reported that The Twisler (GB), placed seventh, was unsuited by the Heavy ground.
