Island on track for the Ballymore after easy Naas win
It was an ideal race for him to have a run before he goes over. They are mad keen to have a horse to run in their own race (the Mulryans in the Ballymore) at Cheltenham and thankfully we might have fallen on one,. It's been the plan since Galway and we just picked out a couple of races to fit in. Hopefully it will be onwards and upwards from here, as long as there is racing. He jumps very well. We might as well be running around for a few quid as running around for nothing. He's a nice horse to have. Mark said he'll probably get three miles in time so the trip of the Cheltenham race won't be an inconvenience anyway, I wouldn't think.
Best Mate's relative Emily blitzes Naas opponents
She's improved a good bit and probably dropping back half a mile in trip suited her better as she loves jumping out and rolling. Over two mile you can let her go, you're not worried about the trip. Coming back to two suited her. She jumped super bar one mistake four out, she's good and brave and attacks her hurdles. I couldn't hear in the wind if there was anything coming so I kept the revs up and when I looked around half up the run-in I couldn't believe how far clear I was. It was a good performance. We're delighted to get her off the mark over jumps. She won her bumper very impressively in Cork but has taken a while to get her jumping together. The plan today was to bowl along like she did when she won her bumper. We'll probably go in search of some black-type now. We'll see if we can get another run into her before Cheltenham, she might be one for the mares novice.
Harty/Colgan combo off to winning start
He's a nice horse and I've always liked him,. Even though he's six I still think he's a baby and he's one I'm looking forward to for the future. We'll probably have to step him up now. We'll do that for the rest of the year and see what it brings. He'll probably end up going chasing, that will be his game. When he's long (at his hurdles) he's brilliant but when he's short he's still unsure what to do so we'll work on that. He'll step up in distance when he has to. Robbie said he could have went a bit quicker even. If you can do that you'll pick up your share of prize-money in those graded races. Robbie said he had a blow between the last two and he'll come on from it. He had plenty of opportunity to throw in the towel if he wanted after missing the last but he didn't and he won well in the finish. I only wish Germany was still with us as he was some stallion. He's badly missed. Unfortunately Germany is not eligible for EBF so you can't go for any of those EBF handicaps or anything of those things.
Cheltenham tilt on the cards for Opera Hat winner Pravalaguna
It was a nice performance. The mistake seemed to wake her up and she galloped on away at the end so she can go two or two-and-a-half, I'd have no trouble going an extra half mile with her again,. The Arkle is a possibility. I know the connections would like to have a runner at Cheltenham, no more than myself. She's also in the JLT so both are a possibility. We didn't think she would survive her fall in Auteuil (June 2017). She's made a great recovery and has won her last couple of races now.
O'Brien's Band of juvenile hurdlers going from strength to strength
I'd say the race suited him as they went slow. He was a seven furlong horse or miler on the Flat, it turned into a bit of a sprint and that probably suited the quickest horse in the race. He might be one to stay at home. I don't know if he'd be one for the Triumph or not. He's got plenty of pace. I guess he could run in the Fred Winter.
Kennedy excels on Roaring Bull
I thought it was going to be a tough day and I thought we might struggle for a winner,. Jack gave him a great ride, he's a bit of a monkey of a horse. The day he won his beginners he nearly didn't want to win but he has ability when things go right for him.
Gigginstown and O'Brien gain further Naas success
Evan gave him a good ride. It's a good job the horse has such a big head!. I thought he was beat but when we saw the replay, I was standing with Eddie, and his head was down at the line so we thought he had a little chance because he hit the line well. In those 50/50 ones you'll come out the wrong end half the time and the better side the other half. He's a huge horse and he'll definitely be better when he jumps fences. It's nice that he's won a hurdle now because it looked like we were going to struggle to get him to do that for a while.
Drama in the bumper but Barnes a good winner
He's a very nice horse. I had him in training this time last year and his first bit of work was excellent. I'm glad we didn't run in Gowran now but he got a stone bruise. I've always loved him and he's a proper proper horse. He seemed to handle the goodish ground there today. When you love them at home and they do everything right, and every day is a pleasing day, you like them to come to the races and go and do it properly like a man and he did. He's a real man of a horse. I don't know much about the stallion Full Of Gold but they're not too bad anyway. I don't know what we'll do but probably another bumper if he's not sold. I'll have to get my talking hat on. They are good horses the owners have over here. They sold the lesser horses and the good horses came to Ireland.
