An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving Le Bayou (FR), placed fourth, ridden by Lewis Edmunds, Qaabil (IRE), placed second, ridden by Kevin Stott and the winner, Furniture Factors (IRE), ridden by Dougie Costello.
The Stewards considered that the incident had not improved Furniture Factors (IRE)’s placing as the interference to Qaabil (IRE) was very minimal in nature and occurred in the final strides of the contest after Furniture Factors (IRE) had finished strongly over the top of Qaabil (IRE) and was always holding that runner late on to win by a short head.
In relation to Le Bayou (FR), he was comfortably held by Furniture Factors (IRE) before being hampered over the concluding stages, partly due to hanging right-handed of his own accord.
The interference was found to be accidental as Furniture Factors (IRE) had shifted quickly left-handed away from the whip before being swiftly corrected by its rider, making light contact with Qaabil (IRE), which in turn bumped with Le Bayou (FR).
