Roxette provides nice family success for the Whelans
It was lovely to win with her and I only have her a while. Ronan's dad Tom had her in pre-training and did a lot of the work with her so I didn't have an awful lot to do only get her to the races,. She is a grand filly and seven (furlongs) here suited her and she had a bit of room where she was drawn (5). It was a good performance to carry that weight in her first handicap. You'd be entitled to think she will improve through the year and she is a winner now. She is lovely and straightforward to train at home and if she went up in grade, six furlongs could suit as she has plenty of pace.
Fortune comes good on "last chance"
Laugh A Minute wins Cork's Listed sprint
we were running this lad in Premier Handicaps and his work at home was very very good and we said we'd bite the bullet this year and go back to Listed races. He is a good horse and has been galloping with Harry's Bar (stablemate). He had Group form before we got him and had solid form. He is a little hyper but was on song today and I'm blessed that I have a good bunch of horses. Gavin (Ryan) said it rode a really good race and he picked up and put the race to bed in a matter of strides. I'd say his handicapping days are over now and he'll stay in Stakes races and we have plenty of options for him.
Day justifies the Mulvanys faith
Gary said he got lonely in front and if he went another furlong he'd have won easier,. I don't know what the plan is with him and we were taking it one day at a time trying to win a maiden so we have that now. He was giving us the right vibes all along and I knew he was a good horse. He is bred to get further so it's onwards and upwards and he'll handle good ground.
Bargain-buy boosts Browne's brand
I thought the race was too hot for him!. The jockey said he wasn't doing a tap in front and had plenty up his sleeve. He said he was gawking around the place and it's only his fifth run. But he is a very good horse — he's better than I thought he was. He has a lovely temperament and it is easy train him. He is a very sweet horse and a child could ride him. We got his wind done, a hobday, and that was his problem. In fairness to Ger Lyons, he said if you got his wind sorted out he's a good horse. He is owned by a Mayo man Patrick Moyles and he'll probably be sold now. I don't want him sold and would love to go to that six-furlongs Listed race at Navan in a fortnight, but will be trying to sell him for the owner.
Twomey's patient approach paying off with Moll
She was fourth to Even So at Naas last year and was only beaten three lengths but got injured. Moll has top class ability and I supplemented her for the Irish Oaks last year and I wasn't messing when I did it,. It's day by day with Moll and if there is an ease in the ground she'll run in the Munster Oaks back here in June. She has the ability to go all the way but she has been physically immature and everything she is doing, she is doing on natural ability. You have to be patient.
Aesop makes winning start for OTI Racing
Thank god everyone got up in the straight - you don't like to see those nasty falls and you don't really enjoy a winner when you see that happen,.
Up in trip Colour Sergeant puts deserved win on the board
He has been beaten by some very very good horses, his form is in the book and by all accounts he has beaten a good horse (runner-up Modus Operandi) there,. He is versatile on ground and the further he goes the better he'll be and will get a lot of confidence from that. He is a half-brother to (Triumph Hurdle winner) Quilixios and those Juddmonte pedigrees are incredible. We'll make a plan from here but the whole idea was for this to happen. This win was all about confidence - the boss man (Ger Lyons) is sick of defending him through the winter!
