Effortless for Envoi on hurdling debut
We think the world of him, we think he could be anything. He showed a lot of pace there today. He wouldn't want to be stepping up in trip too much for the time being. He's very, very good. He was clever, he got in close to one or two but he learned plenty there. I'd imagine we would probably go to Fairyhouse now for the Royal Bond.
Janidil looks on upgrade after landing nice handicap pot
We thought he was nicely handicapped so came down this route which we wouldn't normally do. I'm very pleased as he handled the ground well and jumped well. His jumping has improved and he had clear air in front today. He has a lot of experience coming from France. He had run in a handicap in France and I think that probably made a big difference just being up there out of trouble. He also had to have the ability to be up there out of trouble which he seems to have off his rating anyway. He'll improve through the season. We'll see what the handicapper does but he can do either (go down the novice route or handicapping). We'll have a look at how the novices are faring out. I won't make a real plan today, we will see what happens the next few weeks.
Respect strikes again in Down Royal's Champion Chase
Paul Carberry actually rode him work twice when Sean was out. We brought him to Punchestown and worked him and then we brought him to Navan and worked him. The last day he said 'spot on, don't do any more'. I weighed him every week and I got the fright of my life this morning as he is 19 kilos heavier than he was this day last year and he was heavy here last year. He has obviously matured a lot and he has got very strong. To be honest last season got destroyed when he ran on fast ground in Leopardstown. Everyone kept saying he wants fast ground - he doesn't, he wants soft ground and it destroyed his jumping. He didn't jump in Cheltenham because he wouldn't let himself go in the shoulders. Leopardstown is the obvious place to go again but we'll see about the ground, the ground would have to be easy enough. He'll definitely be put in the King George. He seems to have straightened out his jumping. Michael and Eddie (O'Leary) will make plans. Michael has always been keen to stay in Ireland before going to Cheltenham.
