The Stewards interviewed Amy O'Hanlon, rider of Al Batal (GB), concerning her use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg. 10. 3.(g) by using the whip with the arm above shoulder height and having taken her good record into account cautioned the rider
The Stewards requested a report from Edward Lynam, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Hot Stone, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that this filly was returning to maiden company from handicap company last time. The testing ground at Listowel ended up being less than ideal compared to today's surface and she was also tried without any headgear today. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
