Paddy Power Chase hero McInerney gains win at local Limerick
he made one or two novicey mistakes but all in all, you'd have to say he jumped well. He's a fine strapping chasing type and he'll make a fine chaser. He is a grand horse and has been very consistent and solid for us bar we brought him to Cheltenham last month which was a huge mistake as he got so wound up. He ran his race before he got to the start and even riding him around that morning he had his race run. We'll see what handicap mark he gets and he could go handicapping or for a winners' of one. He'll stay chasing now and hopefully he can progress further.
Dempseys could be Cheltenham bound with Derrinross
He did it the hard way and he didn't jump as well today but Luke said he was looking around in front,. He came out of his race well the last day and we were very happy with him. I was sort of thinking the others underperformed at Cork and he obviously had to step up and he was also giving away weight. We might have to look at bigger things now and while we mightn't get a wet spring, if he gets soft ground he could run at the Dublin Racing Festival. I'd be fond of going to Cheltenham, I've never been there, and if he got soft ground he'll run in the Albert Bartlett. I think he'll be better with a stronger gallop. He's had plenty of issues and thankfully now he has bounced out and hopefully tomorrow he'll be the same. We've had a great Christmas.
Criq by a neck, following jockey's brilliant recovery
Conor gave him a brilliant ride; the best thing I find is the less I say to the jockeys the better and the best thing I can do is tell them about the horse. I told Conor to settle him and make him feel like he is not racing and that is exactly what he did and that's why we got the result today. The horse has matured immensely and he is in handicaps now and that's the key. He really stuck his neck out today and I had another runner finish second yesterday so I'm very happy.
