Following a request from broadcasters, the Raceday Stewards granted permission for a two minute delay to this race P. Townend, rider of We'llhavewan, trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left up the straight
P.T. Enright, rider of Ceroc, trained by E. J. O'Grady, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly left
K. Callaghan, rider of Foveros (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stopped quickly
The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference at the last hurdle involving Happy Jacky, ridden by D
King, placed second, and We'llhavewan, ridden by P. Townend, placed first, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence D. King stated that he did not have to stop riding his mount and that his finishing position was not affected. P. Townend stated that his mount was lugging left but he felt he kept him straight to the finishing line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while We'llhavewan had caused interference to Happy Jack, he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action
