Mighty Bandit another for Elliott and Kennedy
I’d say he’s a nice horse. We gave him two bits of work and he worked well and then he got light, so we’ve done nothing with him since. We didn’t really know what to expect, but Jack (Kennedy) said you’d have to be impressed with what you saw there. He was happy with him. He’d plenty of schooling done at home and he should strengthen up as the season goes on. We’ll look at Christmas now with him.
Predators picks up more Punchestown Gold
He put it to bed very quickly I thought. A massive jump at the last showed there was a bit in the tank and I just had to keep him up to his work. He was very impressive and there is a lot of improvement in him. I thought it was a hell of a performance considering where he was at the third last. He looks a really nice recruit.
Mullins and Townend double up with impressive Gaelic Warrior
It was a very good performance, way better than I expected. I thought he was a bit novicey at one or two, but never looked like falling and he ran very fresh today. We all know he stays and he might go a longer trip but maybe after that performance I need to have a rethink about him. He’d have no problem going two and a half miles and two miles would be no problem to him either the way he ran there. We thought there would be a lot more pace in the race, but it seemed to evaporate and Paul was happy enough to make it. He was just a bit gassy today on his first run and maybe he will settle later on in the season.
Favori De Champdou makes it a brace for Elliott and Kennedy
Very good, jumped great and galloped all the way to the line so I am very happy with him. He's a very strong stayer and the further he goes, the better he gets. He could nearly have gone around there again. He’d a good run the last day and we thought he’d come on from it, but we thought it would be tough. Jack said he stayed very well and jumped brilliant. I’d imagine he’ll go for something at Christmas. I liked the way he stayed galloping. He travelled the whole way and he could be a real National Hunt Chase horse for Cheltenham.
Idas Boy back in action with a victory
We were going to run him in Wexford last week, but the ground was very heavy and he definitely likes a little bit better ground. He was going to be a nice horse last year but had a setback and was out for the season. He was working well and was ready for a run. He’s in the Paddy Power at Christmas so we’ll have to see after that. Sam has a great pair of hands and is a very talented young lad. He might be light but he’s very strong.
Mullins and Townend fire in treble via majestic State Man
I had a little peep leaving the back straight and saw where Jack was, I had a fair idea what was coming and what they had in their minds. It is easy to cover it when you are on the best horse!. He is so chilled out - he runs in the earplugs and he is winning with them so we haven't taken them out. I don't know if he needs them or not but why change it?. Paul was much happier getting down off him this year than he was last year, so maybe there is a bit of improvement there for this season. I thought he’d won turning for home and I was surprised when there was a bit of a shemozzle and I got a bit of a fright for a couple of seconds but was happy enough then. Impaire Et Passe will go to Fairyhouse next weekend and we’ll try and keep them apart for as long as we can. They all have to get there in March, so we’ll concentrate on the domestic scene for the moment.
Yeats Star takes to handicapping in Punchestown
He’s very tough and I thought Jack gave him a great ride. He held onto him and just waited to have one run. He won a little bit too well in Downpatrick and I thought we had a lot of weight, but it’s great that he’s won again. It’s great that Bertie (Mannion, owner/breeder) is here. He has horses with us for a good while and its great to get a winner for him. We’ll look for something similar.
Elliott's across-the-card five-timer comes up through The Enabler
He’s a grand, big, galloping horse. He’s a massive horse and one that is going to improve a lot in time. He won’t race too much more this year. It’s been a good day with five winners as we also had a Flat winner in Lingfield.
