Ballela benefits as Turcagua crashes out
We are a long time trying to get him to win a race but he has now won his bumper, maiden hurdle and a chase,. There's no big plan with him and he'll run wherever we can find a race for him and he could also be going to Doncaster Sales.
Paddy proves class act
His preparation didn't have the one last gallop you'd like but his mobility was unreal and it was the first time I've ever seen him right in himself,. He had been stiff and sore after his last run in December but had no issue for the last six weeks and I could start into training him. He should come on tonnes from this and he'll probably run in the Grade 1 two mile novice chase at Punchestown next. He likes being fresh and we'll keep him fresh for Punchestown now - he's exciting and he deserves a lash at the Grade 1.
Zero drama for Black in eventful contest
Scheu easy for Cathal as he Lands double
I couldn't have dreamt it would have taken him that long to win his maiden as he always had an easy way of doing things. It was bad going not to win a bumper with him but maybe he's just a hurdler,. He ran very well the first day (over hurdles) at Catterick as it turns out, as the winner won a Grade 3 race afterwards and the fourth horse also won subsequently. Today was a soft race but he could do no more than he did and he jumped great. He wants better ground and we'll step him up in trip and I hope stepping him up in trip will improve him. The lads (J&T Partnership) would love to go to Aintree with him as they go there every year so we'll put him in the 2m4f handicap the first day and see what handicap mark he gets before making our minds up.
Diamond lands double for Elliott and Russell
He hated that ground but the conditions of the race suited him and that's why I ran him. He was at the pin of his collar to win on that ground and the trip wouldn't be ideal either,. Davy pulled him up wisely the last day and he can now go to Punchestown for whatever race we can find.
Lass lasts it out to give Lynch brace
Last year I thought we were going to struggle and then decided to go back and win a point to point, which she did by 14 lengths. She is slow but stays galloping and this is only her third run in a handicap,. She is a bit small for fences but has been placed in a beginners' chase and can go back chasing again as well. We'll see what she gets for this but she'll go for another 80-95 next. I have a lot of young horses to run for the summer and have a lot of pointers. People are sending me a lot of Kalanisis because of Fayonagh (by Kalanisi, and whom Rath trained to win her first bumper) and I have a lot of four year olds to run soon in point to points and in bumpers.
Ted impresses in bumper for Carberry and Meade
He ran very free the first day and she (Carberry) couldn't get him to relax. He's a nice horse and we always thought he was,. He has a bit of boot and won't run in a hurdle race until next season and we'll see about a winners' bumper.
