Outside Inside forges ahead in Gowran
That was grand. She is a nice filly and I always thought she was, it has just taken her a few runs to learn her job. She was half pulling herself up until the other horse came beside her and she went on again then. I think the nice ground really suited her. She loved that beautiful ground. The last day the firm ground at Fairyhouse just didn't suit her. She had a bad draw that day as well. I'm glad for Garrett and Anna (Freyne), it's my first winner for them this year. If she ends up as good as Colour Blue, who was by the same sire, we'll be happy. She probably will go for a sales race at the end of the year but we'll see what's around beforehand.
Always Dancing puts in another Quickstep
That was grand. It doesn't normally work. She is a good honest filly who is tough out. I'd just like to thank John Murphy (trainer of non runner Compatriot) for giving me a heads-up this morning. We were going to bring her down anyway and take a chance that something might be out. It's nice to get it because she'll never be in that bracket again. She is pure honest. We've got two wins for the price of one which justifies the hike in the handicap. She was given a 14lb rise in total and had eight up her sleeve in that. I'm sure the handicapper will leave her alone now. We'll freshen her up now and move on.
Gamble landed as Eleuthera just gets up
I can take absolutely no credit for that. He was beaten everywhere bar the line. Donagh was fantastic on him. He is a nice horse and we had been campaigning him on the all-weather. Whether he like that surface I'm not sure. Donagh said he was loving the rain softened ground there. Whether we go back to the all-weather I'm not sure, we might keep him on the turf for now. We'll get him home and see how he is in the morning before deciding whether to run him again at Fairyhouse. He'll tell us how he is in the morning. He is owned by Rory Browne who is an Irish man based in Germany.
Big Ego has plenty to shout about
He is a lovely big horse by Helmet. At one stage I was thinking 'what am I doing?' because everyone else is winning with him. He is just big and backward. He is a real stayer and just needs as far as he can go. We just decided to be positive on him and Leigh gave him a great ride. We'll see what staying races are coming up. Hopefully he should do nothing only improve and the ease in the ground definitely helped him today.
Park Row and Halpin get the job done
Tea and an across-card double for Harrington
She deserved it. She got a bit lonely on the far side there and came across. Colm said she was always going to hold on. I'm delighted for her, she deserved to win after her two good runs. Where we go now I don't know. She will be a nicer filly next year when she strengthens up. She'll improve a good bit.
Collision Course brings up Oliver/Lee brace
He is not winning before time. He likes a bit of an ease in the ground. Billy gave him a great ride and we'll see what the handicapper does now. He might go for something at Galway.
Lyons and Keane at double with Insayshable
That was grand. I don't like making it. He came back from the Derby Trial and was covered in ringworm, typical of a weak horse. When you get it in May you just have to be patient, back off and let him come to himself. He has a temperament to die for. He is a lovely quality horse. We will stick to the mile and two for the minute. He doesn't want it any faster than that. We will bring him home and see how he comes out of it, he'll improve for the run and we'll try and plot it steady, steady. We'd like to be thinking big for next year as opposed to this year. He is a horse I like.
