The Stewards received a report from J.R. Banahan, IHRB Starter, regarding the two false starts prior to this race
Evidence was heard from Mr. Banahan who stated that the first false start was caused by riders rushing forward and proceeding to race before reaching the marker poles. The second false start was called due to one rider calling 'no, no, no' indicating that he was not ready to start. The Starter also outlined to the Stewards that the positioning of the start for this race was not ideal. Having viewed recordings of the false starts and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation and took no further action
The Stewards looked at an incident on the run to the second last fence where a number of horses appeared to get tight for room. Having viewed the recording of the race the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
An extended handicap steeplechase for four years old and upwards Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 11st 10lbs and the minimum weight is 9st 12lbs Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase or steeplechases after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper.
