Betsy makes the breakthrough in Navan opener
It's nice to have the owner (Frank Gillespie) over today to see his filly win. He's a very lucky owner who has had many good horses and is a great supporter of racing. She was very consistent last year without winning and she deserved her success here. We'll go for a handicap next.
Cheap buy Evasive powers home to win on debut
He's a lovely horse. We liked him at home and he showed plenty of speed but he was probably a gallop short for today, but said we'd run him because he's a green sort of horse. You could see there he was the first horse off the bridle but he kept responding and figured it out as he hit the rising ground. He's a proper fast ground horse and is going to improve from the run. He'll probably go to Ascot now. He might need another run but we'll see how he comes out of this.
Foster working her Magic on Julia's
I only have five in training but if they can run to the best of their ability that's all you can ask. They are all fillies. Merited ran well in Cork last night (finished third) and is pretty much on a par with Julia's Magic even though she is three. Merited is five but she thinks she is two!. Julia's Magic is stronger this year. Six is really her distance and she will come on a lot from that race. The hill helped her and when she changed legs she kind of got into another gear.
Uluru leaves her rivals feeling Blue
Timing is everything as Nick only arrived this morning from New York and I didn't even know he was coming here. He is a jeweller in New York but has a farm in Limerick and bred her as well. She had all her conditions right as we knew she was well, she likes fast ground, and wants five furlongs. She is maturing every time. She is a bit buzzy at the start but she is allowing him to ride her. She is a project and I'm hoping she will grow into a Stakes filly next year. She is not one this year. I could have waited for a three-year-old only (race) in a couple of weeks but the ground could have been gone on me. She did some growing from two to three and she is not finished yet. It's all about getting her black type but that will probably be when she is four.

Double for McDonogh as Decision denies Bianca
It's nice to come up here and have an animal that justifies it. She's consistent and wanted good ground, I won't say this ground, but she seemed to handle it and hopefully she's okay after it.
McDonogh makes it three on Broad Street
He's a nice colt who is still a bit green and raw but the potential to be a nice horse. We'll look at the Silver Stakes at the Curragh in three weeks’ time. He's always shown promise at home. He's grown and is even in a growth phase at the moment. He’s a medium-sized colt that is after filling out and the bit of time is paying dividends. He worked very nicely the other morning and he did what we thought he would do.
