Mac Swiney an exciting one for the Bolgers
Twilight Payment wins another Curragh Cup in impressive style
.I think it was a big performance out of him,. The horse that made the running is no slouch and this fella stayed going all the way to the line. This was our early season target and we had the couple of races that would bring us to here. I suppose in the longer term the Irish Leger back here would be the target. It was a good run out of Master Of Reality again I thought. He'll probably follow the same path, he hasn't got many other options really.
Liston lands late knock out punch
He's progressing well. I thought he was a little bit unlucky at Navan the last time,. Ben said he made his own bit of bad luck today as he wasn't travelling through the race. When he got him to the outside he stayed on well and got the trip well. I think it's a good trip for him at the minute but he might be a horse that gets a mile-and-a-half in time. He's a very sensible horse but he does light up when he gets to the races. He's only had five runs and is still learning. It onwards and upwards but it's going to get tougher for him as he goes along.
Romanised sets himself up nicely ahead of Deauville repeat bid
It's lovely to see him back as it's been ten months,. We were anxious to start him on his own doorstep and what better place than here in a race he's won before and obviously he has good form here. I'm delighted with that. He's a year older and wiser and he was just a little bit slow to jump off (on the way to start) but then he seemed to go down very nicely. Billy said he gave him a great feel and that's the most important part of the day. I liked the way he looked to race just behind the bit all the time. Every time he gave him a squeeze he came forward. He had a choice late on whether to go around Ronan or stay where he was and he backed the horse to quicken for him when he needed him. He's very pleased and I'm delighted. He had a blow too but it's important after being out for so long as there is no substitute for a match, you can do all the training you like. He wouldn't be mad about that ground, it's dead ground, he wants genuine good ground, just on the fast side is what he needs. Then you can really see his acceleration and turn of foot. His penultimate furlong in Deauville that time was 10.6 seconds, he has the ability to really quicken. He's overcome the ground and done it in a very good way. I'm sure he'll take plenty from the race. Billy said he had a nice blow and he knows he's had a race. I'm sure that will bring him on. He'll go back to Deauville now to try and win the Jacques Le Marois again. It's four weeks so it's a nice bit of time between now and then for
Proposal pips Gulliver in Scurry thriller
It was a nice to get a nice win with her. It was the plan to go for one of these big races as we thought she was well enough handicapped and competitive. Plans seldom work but this one did,. She was very fresh the first day but she'd had a run. I was leaning towards running her in the seven furlong handicap but with the little bit of rain I thought this race might suit better. I talked to Joe Foley and he thought the same, between the two of us we got it right. It's nice to get a winner for Steve (Parkin) who is a big supporter of mine. Between Leeds winning the Championship and Eagles By Day winning at York he's having a good weekend.
Famous Curragh Group 2 double for Condon brought up by 66/1 shot Laws
The price looks an insult now but I suppose he just fell in, in an auction maiden at Navan getting all the allowances,. Fair play to the owners, he was a horse that we liked. He ran early on in Naas and he's obviously made improvement as he's gone along. Certainly he's made a huge step forward. I would have been delighted with a place. He travelled through the race quite well and he's a horse that had shown us at home that he wants seven and they needed to stay today as it's slow ground. He got to the line well and galloped through it. At Naas he was in the gates quite a bit, was slowly away and maybe didn't handle the ridges. He took a lot from it and gained a bit of experience. Then he went on to Navan, on soft ground, and a furlong out you'd say he would be fourth but he hit the line very well there. To be honest I didn't see a win coming today and would have been delighted with a good run. He's obviously come forward well again. He's entitled to run in all the good races now, he's well entered up. He's in the Phoenix and the National Stakes. The Railway is always a very strong race so he'll take his chance in those races.
Summer 2020 and it's a 2nd Classic for Lyons and Keane
She's a lovely filly and she has just thrived week on week,. I was disappointed with her in Naas when she got beaten by Lemista but Lemista has turned out special. I love how she has come on physically. Did I think she'd win an Oaks? - no I didn't but when she won the Oaks trial she earned her right to be here and if you're not in it you can't win it. It's just fantastic and it's good that these owners are now with me, with a good trainer for a change!. They were spoiling Aidan, this thing is easy when you get this type of horse. I was saying how great Aidan is but when you get the horses it's easy!. It's a great result, I'm delighted for Colin and for the team. I was just joking saying we should keep the country in lockdown because it's working for me anyway. I'm thrilled because I love this filly. I thought she was smart. I didn't know what an Oaks filly was but I said if we had one this was her. She's gone and done it so I'm delighted. I'm delighted for the owners. It was lovely to watch, it was different to Siskin. I couldn't breathe watching Siskin but with this one I enjoyed it all the way up the straight. I never had a worried moment which is a strange thing to say. There is no pressure from the owners and they are straight-forward to work for. They've been around a long time and know more than I do. They've picked us for a reason and let us do our job which makes life so much easier. I'd be lying if I said we had a plan, we'll enjoy this. I genuinely didn't think she
Impressive Ladies Derby heroine Zoe now Galway bound
She was unlucky in Navan, she came from a long way back and then got interfered with half way up the straight,. It just ruined the plan then but maybe it was a help in winning today. Hopefully she'll go on now to Galway for the amateur race, if she pulls out enough and I think she will. I'd love to get Jody again but I'd say I'd be lucky with the numbers Willie has in it. It was great to get her today. The weights come out Monday for Galway and I'd need whatever she gets for winning there to get in.
