The winner, Northern Beau (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Cheltenham on 26 October 2019 where the mare finished sixth of the seven finishers, beaten by 19¾ lengths on Heavy ground.
Michael Scudamore’s explanation that Northern Beau (IRE) had appreciated the better ground, which was officially described as Soft, Good to Soft in places on this occasion, and that the mare may have stripped fitter for its previous run which was its first since having a wind operation, was noted.
Northern Beau (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Jeremiah McGrath reported that Theinval (FR), which was pulled up, was never travelling.
Harry Skelton reported that Destrier (FR), which started favourite and finished sixth, stopped quickly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing shortly after the race, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
